What We Believe

About Us

In late 2019, sensing God’s urging to move on from their present church pastoral ministry, Bruce and Paula purchased a fishing lodge, Tailwaters Lodge, nestled in the Appalachian Mountains of Tennessee comprising 14 acres and 540’ of river frontage on the pristine South Holston River in Bristol, TN.  The South Holston River is known for trout fishing and their property abuts the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) public lands offering miles of walking trails, undeveloped woods, and within one-mile of the sprawling South Holston Lake.  It is an ideal location for Quiet Waters Ministry.

Our Heart’s Desire

Quiet Waters Ministry is a 501(c)(3) non-profit ministry established to help people restore their lives, build on their relationship with God, and enjoy His presence.  Bruce and Paula established this ministry in January 2020 following the loss of their daughter Jessica in 2018 at the age of 31.  Bruce is an ordained Anglican Priest who has served in both non-denominational and denominational churches.  He received his Master of Divinity (MDiv) from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in 1995 and has worked in the Corporate world with General Electric and M&T Bank, as well as running his own financial planning business as a Certified Financial Planner(TM) professional.  Paula has been a teacher for most of her life working with special education children in the public schools setting.  Together, they hiked the entire Appalachian Trail (2,184 miles) in 2012.  It took them five months and they raised $70K for Urban Impact in Pittsburgh, a ministry that reaches disadvantaged youth in the inner city.

Their hiking experience was transformational for them, God met them on the trail and ministered to them in ways they did not expect.  Combined with the loss of their daughter, they now have a passion to help others experience restoration and healing through the outdoors.
